Santa's Magic Key Santa’s Magic Key

No chimney for Santa? No problem. Inspired by the popular poem, this quick and easy project gives the jolly man in the red suit access to any house, so no one need go without presents!

Materials

  • 4” skeleton key (available at www.rustytin.com)
  • Strip of homespun fabric in color of choice
  • Large tag, mica flakes, black crochet cotton, embroidery needle, crafter’s spray adhesive, sharp scissors, tracing paper, eraser, pencil or stylus

Instructions

  1. Transfer the pattern to the tag by laying the tracing paper on the tag and then lining up the pattern over top. Using the stylus or pencil, trace hard over the letters to ensure they have been transferred to the tag. Remove pattern and tracing paper.
  2. Use the embroidery needle to pre-punch the stitching holes. Then using the embroidery needle threaded with the black crochet cotton, backstitch all letters.
  3. Once the letters are stitched, spray a thin layer of crafter’s spray adhesive over top of tag. Sprinkle mica flakes over adhesive, and gently brush off any loose flakes. Allow to dry.
  4. Tie key to tag using the strip of homespun fabric.
