Creating unique and affordable accents for your home is as simple as looking at what you already have. Brand name items tend to look the same—why not infuse your living space with styling touches that are all your own? Have a surplus of glass bottles? Simply wash them well, then spray with a flat spray paint in your color of choice. Display on a windowsill or bookshelf to add instant uplift. Wire buttons together and wrap around the tops of glass jars, then fill with pretty wildflowers or tea lights. Make vintage-inspired sampler pictures using embroidery hoops, or frame special pieces of children’s clothing or tiny slippers to create heirloom pieces. Wrap books in different fabrics, bundle them together with coordinating ribbon, and lay the stacks on side tables or nightstands.
